Nearly every mass shooting in the USA the shooter was on legal in the USA medication that is banned in Europe. The USA has strange gun laws they allow mods to make semi auto rifles into machine guns but the first thing to go after is the medication that's allowed.

First a note: Not many people "know" what they will do in a deadly situation - fight or flight often takes over. Of course, as mentioned, in the heat of the moment, I dare say I'd freeze...then fly in one direction or another (enraged and/or fearful).

There was a mass shooting in some small Kansas town a while back. Several people shot, dozens more were in the building. But a cop arrived on the scene and instead of waiting for a swat team or backup, entered the building and shot the suspect dead.

Saving many more lives. The fact he was a cop doesn't matter. It was someone armed that could stop the suspect that made the difference.

Speaking as an officer of 15 years from a family of cops, you'd be surprised how little training some cops have. Cop doesn't necessarily equal experienced or better, just the same as being a civilian means they're inexperienced or untrained.

Most certainly, but in general there's a greater ability (hopefully ingrained through training) to react despite the rush of catecholamines.
