Pictures From The Exhumation of Lee Harvey Oswald
The exhumation of Lee Harvey Oswald, the man accused of assassinating President John F. Kennedy in 1963, occurred on October 4, 1981, in Dallas, Texas. This unusual event was driven by lingering conspiracy theories surrounding the Kennedy assassination, particularly doubts about Oswald's identity. These theories were fueled in part by the claim that the body buried in Oswald's grave might not be his, but rather a Soviet agent who had taken his place. The Oswald family agreed to the exhumation to put these theories to rest. The process was carried out under the direction of forensic pathologists and legal authorities. The exhumation took place at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Fort Worth, Texas. The body was in a deteriorated state, but through dental records and other forensic techniques, the remains were positively identified as those of Lee Harvey Oswald. The examination conclusively disproved the theory that someone other than Oswald was buried in the grave. The exhumation and subsequent findings did little to quell the broader array of conspiracy theories surrounding the Kennedy assassination, which continues to be a subject of public fascination and speculation. However, it did provide a definitive answer to one of the more peculiar rumors that had persisted for years following the assassination. After the examination, Oswald's remains were reburied in the same cemetery. |

Me either, man his body/casket didn't fair well at all. You hear about exhumations decades after the bodies were buried where they look like they'd just died (Big Bopper and Medgar Evans comes to mind), but it looks like Oswald got a shitty embalming job and/or his grave was compromised by water or other elements. He was only buried for 17 years at that point and his coffin appears to have already caved in and deteriorated and he was mostly bones.

Once buried, bodies are meant to lay in peace.

Hold on. Some of the pics are not from the same coffin. Compare the 5th and the state of the skull with the mess later on.

Might sound strange but, I always wanted to see what President Kennedy's body looks like now. |
