Pictures of Convicted Spies Ethel and Julius Rosenberg Dead
The deaths of Ethel and Julius Rosenberg, who were executed for espionage in 1953, represent one of the most controversial and debated episodes in the history of American justice and the Cold War era. The Rosenbergs were convicted of conspiring to pass atomic secrets to the Soviet Union and were the only American civilians to be executed for espionage during the Cold War. Julius and Ethel Rosenberg were arrested in the summer of 1950, at the height of Cold War tensions and the "Red Scare" in the United States. Julius was accused of heading a spy ring that provided the Soviet Union with top-secret information about the atomic bomb, while Ethel was accused of aiding and abetting her husband's activities. Their trial began in March 1951 in New York City. The prosecution's case relied heavily on the testimony of David Greenglass, Ethel's brother and a former machinist at Los Alamos National Laboratory, where the atomic bomb was developed. Greenglass, who had earlier been arrested for espionage, testified that Ethel and Julius had recruited him to gather and transmit nuclear secrets to the Soviets. The defense argued that the evidence was circumstantial and that the Rosenbergs were victims of a political witch-hunt. In April 1951, Julius and Ethel Rosenberg were found guilty of conspiracy to commit espionage and were sentenced to death. Their conviction and sentence sparked a global controversy, with many believing that they were innocent or that the death penalty was too harsh a punishment. There were widespread appeals for clemency from international figures, but these were ultimately unsuccessful. On June 19, 1953, after two years of legal appeals and public debate, the Rosenbergs were executed in the electric chair at Sing Sing Prison in Ossining, New York. |

To 'lie in state' offers special meaning in that the individuals are presented for others to show respect to the deceased or to honor them. These communist pieces of shit deserved and received neither. Thanks to the efforts, they made the world a much dangerous place for almost a decade. |

I've always been amazed at the huge public support these 2 garnered back then. I mean these 2 stole atomic bomb secrets and gave them to are absolute enemy, Russia. And once the Russians actually built and detonated their own nuclear bomb. America lived under the threat of instantaneous mass death and destruction. Yet, somehow these 2 scum bag traitors enjoyed massive support all over the nation back then. |

Rosenberg's Furniture store at 1825 Tulane. It had this annoying but popular and catchy jingle with it. While I'm not from New Orleans --- I did learn about the Rosenberg commercial is one of my business/marketing classes when I earned my MBA a few years ago. You can probably youtube one of the old commercials. But I wouldn't if I were you. :) |
