Re: Photo's From The Massacre At Oradour-sur-Glane
Oradour is on my bucket list of places to visit before I die (everyone should know I'm a huge researcher of anything having to do with WWII in Europe). What makes the tale all the more tragic is that the SS went to the wrong town. The actual incident happened in Oradour-sur-Vayres

tl;dr It was a massacre, period. Now, one can't help but wonder how the world would be had Hitler targeted muslims instead. |

Re: Photo's From The Massacre At Oradour-sur-Glane
It's amazing how, after the Germans were pushed from France in 1944, a myriad of "resistance fighters" suddenly appeared from nowhere. Apparently in France it was fashionable to dress up like an "underground" fighter, grab a discarded weapon from somewhere, and pretend that you actually did some fighting.

Re: Photo's From The Massacre At Oradour-sur-Glane
tl;dr indeed. I skimmed it and it appeared to be an explanation of how the Germans positioned the massacre as a permitted reprisal because the French resistance, the Maquis, were illegal combatants and were therefore not afforded the protections given civilians or legal soldier combatants. Well, we incarcerated our "illegal combatants" after 9/11. The Waffen-SS just fucking massacred theirs. |
