Don't know how big this is in other countries but here in Australia it's quite big. Pistorius, nicknamed Blade Runner, claims he shot dead 29-year-old model Reeva Steenkamp by accident at his luxury home in Pretoria, South Africa, thinking he had disturbed an intruder.

Here's the crime scene pictures, and her death picture, just released from by police where he shot her through the door and killed her.

Reeva Steenkamp, a South African model, and television personality, was tragically killed on February 14, 2013, at the home of her boyfriend, Olympic and Paralympic athlete Oscar Pistorius.

On that fateful day, Pistorius, known as the "Blade Runner" for his track and field achievements as a double amputee, shot and killed Steenkamp in his residence in Pretoria, South Africa. Pistorius claimed that he mistook her for an intruder and fired four shots through the bathroom door.

The case garnered significant media attention and sparked intense public interest both in South Africa and worldwide. Pistorius's trial, which began in March 2014, became one of the most closely watched legal proceedings in recent history.

The trial focused on whether Pistorius's actions were premeditated or if they were a tragic mistake as he claimed. The prosecution argued that the shooting was intentional, while the defense maintained that Pistorius genuinely believed there was an intruder in the house and acted out of fear.

In September 2014, Pistorius was found guilty of culpable homicide (manslaughter) and reckless endangerment for discharging a firearm in a public place. He was sentenced to five years in prison. However, the verdict was later appealed, leading to a retrial.

In December 2015, the South African Supreme Court of Appeal overturned the original verdict, ruling that Pistorius was guilty of murder, finding that he should have known that firing multiple shots into a confined space could be fatal. He was subsequently resentenced to six years in prison.

The case continued to face legal challenges and garnered controversy over the severity of Pistorius's sentence. In November 2017, the South African Supreme Court of Appeal increased Pistorius's sentence to 13 years and five months, emphasizing the need for justice and appropriate punishment.

Maybe he thought they were hiding in there? it's in the court systems hands now.
I must admit I am quite the fan of Oscar. When the news broke I was quite upset/annoyed.

I do not see how the first pic matches the digraph and the bathroom pic in it...they do not look like the same bathroom. the one has the door to the side of the toilette and no sink and the other shows the door across from the toilette and the sink to the side.

He tweeted a few months before this incident that he went into "full combat recon mode" on his washing machine after mistaking it for an intruder after he came home and heard a rumbling. Why is this dude so on edge? I mean i get South Africa has the 2nd highest gun crime rate in the world but he lived in a gated community with walls several feet high surrounding each home as well as electric fences, and even security guards keeping watch over anyone who enters and exits the community! He had to have felt more secure than what he's been leading on.

I feel like most normal people who wake up in the middle of the night and hear something in the bathroom would first look to see if their partner was still in bed with them. Obviously if they aren't in bed, and something is in the bathroom, most people would put two and two together and conclude that it is simply them using the bathroom. A duhhh. His story sounds completely ridiculous, and if it is in fact true, and he is that wound up and trigger happy, he should have moved a long time ago to a country with less crime.

Reeva wasn't meant to stay there that night. Perhaps she came in while he was still in bed and that's why he didn't check?
