Influencer Courtney Clenney, known for her work on OnlyFans and Instagram, has been apprehended on suspicion of murder related to the fatal stabbing of her boyfriend in Miami earlier this year.
The 26-year-old social media personality was arrested in Hawaii on August 10th, 2022. She faces extradition to Miami-Dade County, where she will stand trial. Clenney is accused of second-degree murder with a deadly weapon in the April 3 killing of Christian “Toby” Obumseli.
Frank Prieto, Clenney's defense attorney in Miami, confirmed the arrest on Wednesday afternoon. He noted that Clenney had been in Hawaii undergoing treatment for substance abuse and post-traumatic stress disorder. Expressing surprise at the arrest, Prieto mentioned their cooperation with the investigation and their readiness to voluntarily surrender Clenney if charges were filed. He expressed a commitment to proving her innocence in court.
The Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office announced in a statement on Wednesday evening that the arrest warrant details are currently confidential. State Attorney Katherine Fernandez, joined by City Police Chief Manuel Morales and South Florida U.S. Marshal Gadyaces Serralta, is scheduled to provide more information about the arrest in a press conference on Thursday.
This arrest concludes a four-month inquiry by Miami police homicide detectives and prosecutors into Clenney's actions, which gained international attention. The incident, which occurred during a domestic altercation in a high-end Edgewater apartment, was claimed by Clenney's attorney to be an act of self-defense.
