My Friends Boston Marathon Pictures
A friend was standing diagonally across from the second bomb. Just a few pics he took. Better ones to follow. The Boston Marathon Bombing was a terrorist attack that occurred on April 15, 2013, during the annual Boston Marathon. Two homemade pressure cooker bombs were detonated near the finish line on Boylston Street, resulting in three fatalities and injuring more than 260 others. This attack, one of the most significant on U.S. soil since September 11, 2001, shocked the nation and the world. The bombs exploded about 12 seconds and 210 yards apart at 2:49 p.m. EDT, causing widespread chaos and panic among the runners, spectators, and residents of Boston. The victims killed in the explosions were Martin Richard, 8 years old; Krystle Campbell, 29; and Lu Lingzi, 23, a Chinese national and Boston University graduate student. In the days following the bombing, an intense manhunt ensued for the suspects, identified as brothers Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. On April 18, the brothers fatally shot MIT Police Officer Sean Collier in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The killing led to a carjacking and a dramatic chase into Watertown, during which the suspects exchanged gunfire with police and threw explosive devices. Tamerlan Tsarnaev was killed in the confrontation. Dzhokhar Tsarnaev fled the scene and was found the following evening, April 19, hiding in a boat in a Watertown backyard. He was arrested and taken into custody. The events of the week brought Boston to a standstill, with a city-wide lockdown and a massive law enforcement presence. The Boston Marathon Bombing was investigated by the FBI, and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was tried and convicted on 30 charges, including use of a weapon of mass destruction resulting in death and bombing a public place. He was sentenced to death, a sentence that was later vacated and then reinstated on appeal. |

Re: My Friends Boston Marathon Pictures
I love that some of the people finished the race. They clearly heard it and saw it and didn't have the strength to run away any faster , so they paced to the finishline.
