Murder of BettyLou Jensen and David Faraday: First Zodiac Victims
An incident that marked the beginning of the notorious Zodiac Killer's crime spree, high school students Betty Lou Jensen and David Arthur Faraday were brutally murdered on December 20, 1968. The couple, on their first date, planned to attend a Christmas concert at Hogan High School before deciding to spend time at a popular local lover’s lane on Lake Herman Road, just inside the city limits of Benicia. Betty Lou Jensen, a 16-year-old junior passionate about art and music, and David Faraday, a 17-year-old senior aspiring to be a physician, found themselves the victims of a ruthless and enigmatic perpetrator. The attack occurred at about 10:15 pm, with their bodies discovered shortly after 11:00 pm by Stella Borges, a local resident. The Solano County Sheriff's Department began an investigation, but no immediate leads were developed. The forensic investigation revealed that Faraday was shot once in the head at point-blank range and died within minutes. Jensen, in her attempt to flee, was shot five times in the back and was killed instantly. The killer used a .22 caliber semi-automatic pistol with Winchester Western Super X copper-coated ammunition. No evidence of robbery or sexual molestation was found. According to the police report, shots were fired into Faraday's station wagon in an apparent effort to force the couple out. If you Google Map the pumping station on Herman Rd. in Benicia, it has not changed AT ALL in 56 years. It looks IDENTICAL to the crime scene pictures. Are the authorities still holding the car as evidence? How long do they keep evidence such as this? |

Possibly. They still have the cab from the Stine murder from what I've heard and the car door from the Lake Berryessa attack.
