LAX Shooter Paul Ciancia: Photo After Police Shooting, 2013
Paul Ciancia, then 23 years old, arrived at LAX with the intention of carrying out a shooting. Reports later indicated that he was targeting Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officers. Ciancia was reportedly motivated by anti-government sentiments, particularly against the TSA. Armed with a semi-automatic rifle, Ciancia entered Terminal 3 of the airport and began shooting. He opened fire in the terminal, leading to widespread panic and chaos. During the attack, Ciancia specifically targeted TSA agents. He fatally shot Gerardo I. Hernandez, a TSA officer, marking the first time in the agency's history that a TSA officer was killed in the line of duty. Several other individuals, including TSA officers and civilians, were injured in the shooting. Airport security and law enforcement officers quickly responded to the incident. The terminal was evacuated, and a large-scale operation was launched to apprehend the shooter. Ciancia was eventually shot, one shot struck Ciancia in the mouth knocking out several teeth and splitting his tongue He was apprehended by airport police near the terminal's food court. He sustained serious injuries but survived. Following the attack, LAX operations were significantly disrupted, with numerous flights delayed or canceled. The incident raised serious concerns about airport security and the measures in place to protect passengers and staff. In the legal proceedings that followed, Ciancia faced multiple charges, including murder and commission of violence at an international airport.  · |

I don't think so: according to the news sources the bullet knocked his teeth out, split his tongue and blew away part of his face.

Looks like coagulated blood. You can see around it where it appears that the plasma or whatnot absorbed into the carpet...

Paul Ciancia was brought down by four shots from airport police. In the just-released photo a bloody, stunned and handcuffed Ciancia is lying on the floor beside a huge pool of his own blood. One shot struck Ciancia in the mouth (knocking out several teeth and splitting his tongue).    ·  · |
