Janice Drake Death: Beauty Queen Murdered in Anthony Carfano Mafia Hit
Janice Drake, was a former beauty queen and the wife of comedian and mob associate Allen Drake. She is most notably recognized in connection with her death on June 29, 1959. On that night, Janice and her husband, Allen, were in the company of mobster Anthony "Little Augie" Carfano. They dined at Marino's Italian Restaurant in Manhattan, a known hangout for mob figures. After dinner, they left in Carfano's Cadillac. Later that evening, both Janice Drake and Anthony Carfano were found dead in Carfano's car, which was parked near LaGuardia Airport in Queens, New York. They had been shot at close range, with the apparent cause of death being gunshot wounds to the back of the head. The motive behind the murders was unclear, but it was widely speculated to be connected to organized crime activities. The double homicide of Janice Drake and Anthony Carfano remains unsolved, with no arrests ever made in connection with their deaths. The case garnered significant media attention at the time due to the involvement of high-profile mob figures and the mysterious circumstances surrounding the killings.
