I was watching this race and it surprised me that Mario Andretti can FLY upside down over another car in this race and roll his car and nothing major happens to him. Earnhard just hits the wall and it kills him. |

You don't know that for sure. He could have broke his neck when he hit the steering wheel if the helmet was a full face design. What ultimately lead to his death was his seat belt broke upon impact.
