Harvey Glatman (The Lonely Hearts Killer) Crime Scene Photos
Harvey Glatman, a serial killer active in the late 1950s, left a haunting mark on criminal history with his chilling crimes. Dubbed "The Lonely Hearts Killer," Glatman's criminal activities were centered in Los Angeles, California, where he preyed on young women. Glatman's modus operandi involved posing as a professional photographer to lure his victims with the promise of work as models. Once he had gained their trust, he would take them to his apartment or a remote location, where he would bind, sexually assault, and ultimately murder them. Glatman meticulously photographed his victims during these horrifying ordeals, creating a disturbing record of his crimes. The case of Harvey Glatman came to light in 1958 after the kidnapping and murder of three women: Judith Dull, Ruth Mercado, and Shirley Ann Bridgeford. These young women, looking for opportunities in modeling, fell prey to Glatman’s deceptive tactics. His arrest later that year was a result of a failed abduction, where a potential victim managed to escape and alert the authorities, leading to Glatman’s capture. Upon his arrest, Glatman confessed to the murders, and police found a cache of photographs and souvenirs from his victims in his home. This evidence played a crucial role in his conviction. In 1959, Harvey Glatman was found guilty of murder and was subsequently sentenced to death. He was executed in the gas chamber at San Quentin State Prison in 1959. |
