The Dimebag Darrell Shooting
The music world was shaken by the tragic death of Darrell Lance Abbott, known professionally as "Dimebag Darrell," on December 8, 2004. The renowned guitarist, famous for his work with the heavy metal bands Pantera and Damageplan, was fatally shot during a live performance at the Alrosa Villa nightclub in Columbus, Ohio. The incident occurred when Nathan Gale, a 25-year-old former U.S. Marine, stormed the stage during a Damageplan concert and opened fire, killing Dimebag Darrell and three others, including the band's head of security, a club employee, and a concertgoer. Several others were injured before Gale was shot and killed by a police officer who responded to the scene. Dimebag Darrell, aged 38 at the time of his death. The motive behind Gale's attack remains unclear, though some reports suggested he may have been driven by delusions related to the breakup of Pantera. |

Re: The Dimebag Darrell Shooting
9 years already? Damn time goes quick. Still remember hearing about this like it was yesterday. I thought the fact that Phil Anselmo did an interview a couple of weeks before saying Dimebag should watch out and that terrible things happen to those who cross him!

Re: The Dimebag Darrell Shooting
I almost met dimebag when he played Pierres in Ft Wayne just a week or so before going into Columbus. I was only 14 at the time though, so it was a no go. Ive seen the pictures of them partying in the VIP room though, looks like they had a good time. I guess they grew up together. At least i got to enjoy his music. |

Re: The Dimebag Darrell Shooting
Hmm, I didn't know that. I knew that he had said something along the lines of " Dimebag Darrell needs to get beat over the head", but I never knew that he directly threatened him. I don't know man, I love Anselmo's voice and energy that he brings, but from the clips I've watched he seems like an arrogant prick. Either way, I've never been one to delve into the personal lives of celebrities, I just really enjoy their music

Re: The Dimebag Darrell Shooting
Phil has learned a lot about life since he made those statements, he says it was all blown up by the media, its just very unfortunate that they played on those passing words. Phil is a very wise and charismatic individual now, I wish him and Vinnie would reunite and get along with life, perhaps even link up with Zakk Wylde and Rex for a Pantera tour once more, I would piss myself in joy if that happened. RIP Dime, you are forever the greatest metal axe player |

Re: The Dimebag Darrell Shooting
Also, I saw a doco not too long back, and the police that searched the killers home actually found plans around that was evident that he planned on killing all 4 members of Pantera, because he believed they "stole his music ideas" |

Re: The Dimebag Darrell Shooting
I heard he was actually a schizophrenic off his meds, would explain why he thought they were stealing his ideas. Can you imagine if that asshole had actually went through with killing all of the members!? Nationwide hunt for that prick |
