The breakthrough in the case came unexpectedly when Mazzone's brother, Mike, identified a postmortem photo on the Maricopa County Medical Examiner's website. The photo was part of a case involving an unidentified young woman who died in 1999. Recognition of a distinctive tattoo helped confirm the woman as Mazzone. Online community Websleuths.com played a crucial role in piecing together Tawni's background. Her aunt, Tammy, connected with a user on the site, sharing details about Mazzone's life and struggles as a teenager. This collaborative effort helped piece together the circumstances of her disappearance. Her mother and her will always have a special bond and her mother didn't know what had happened to her for nine years I can't even imagine. Also I wonder if she fell out of the speeding car trying to escape someone attempting to hurt her... The whole case is just terribly sad and tragic..
