The death of 14-year-old Emmett Till in 1955 was a pivotal moment in the American Civil Rights Movement. Till, an African American teenager from Chicago, was brutally murdered while visiting relatives in Money, Mississippi. His offense was allegedly whistling at a white woman, Carolyn Bryant, in a grocery store.

Till's mutilated body was found in the Tallahatchie River, and his death sparked national outrage after his mother, Mamie Till Mobley, insisted on an open-casket funeral to show the world the horrors of racial violence. The two white men accused of the murder, Roy Bryant and J.W. Milam, were acquitted by an all-white jury, a verdict that further fueled the Civil Rights Movement.

Sadly, not enough young people have heard of Emmett, or his brave mother. It’s a heartbreaking story of racism in the South.

He was in a river for 3 days or so, was probably bloated from that.

Just read the story on wikipedia. I'm actually surprised I had never heard of it until just now.

The fact was he made a pass at her, that's all. She told her husband, and he got a few other thugs, hunted the kid down, and murdered him.

Yes it is true that alot of young people don't get to see or hear of the injustice that was put upon this poor young man. I made A point of it to tell my daughter the story of Emmett when she was studying this part of our history.

I don't think the story and the pic are related. The body HAS to be older, much older, than fourteen years old. When a body swells and looks heavier and larger than normal the clothing also resembles that. The clothing fits too good for the transformation that would have to take place. Frankly the pic of the gentleman in the suit has not started to bloat yet.

Some will say that this is after the undertakers work and they are right. But again the pic does not match the story. This is of a man in his fifties of sixties in my opinion.
