The Death of Owen Hart in the Ring at Over the Edge Event
The death of Owen Hart, a renowned professional wrestler, remains one of the most tragic and shocking events in the history of professional wrestling. Hart, who was 34 years old at the time, died on May 23, 1999, during a World Wrestling Federation pay-per-view event, "Over the Edge," held at the Kemper Arena in Kansas City, Missouri. Owen Hart, performing under the character of "The Blue Blazer," was scheduled to make a dramatic entrance by descending from the arena's rafters using a harness and grapple line. Tragically, a malfunction occurred with the release mechanism, causing Hart to fall approximately 78 feet into the ring. Efforts to revive him were unsuccessful, and he was pronounced dead from his injuries. The cause of death was later determined to be internal bleeding from blunt force trauma. |

Still waiting for WWE to release the video! Or a pissed ex-employee to make a copy of it and release it!

Probably never gonna happen, but fingers crossed anyways. WWE fucked Owen over, and I'm still bitter towards Vince McMahon all these years later. |

My dad has it recorded on VHS. They cut out right after he hit the ground.

Re: The Death of Owen Hart in the Ring at Over the Edge Event
No he doesn't. They were showing a vignette when Owen fell. The only footage was the hard cam that was NOT shown during the video of Owen's pre-recorded interview. The footage is in WWE's archives under the "Never to view, duplicate or destroy" category along with the Droz paralysis incident. The hard cam did catch Owen's impact in the ring, but it was never shown ever. Only a select few have ever seen it since 1999. |

Re: The Death of Owen Hart in the Ring at Over the Edge Event
Anyone who says they've seen the video is lying. Only those in attendance actually saw it happen. There was a page somewhere online that had pictures taken just after he fell. You can see Owen laying in the corner and a ref just stepping towards him. But the pics were taken from pretty far away. Hard to forget such a tragic event. Still unnerves me to think that they went on with the show despite knowing he was dead |

Some claim that they've seen the hard cam footage online right after it happened. I personally never have, and I kinda doubt those claims but who knows really?
