I was not able to find a whole lot about this case, so if you have any pictures that I do not have listed here about the Colleen Stan case please post them up. Stan was kidnapped, and kept as a sex slave inside a wooden box by Cameron Hooker.

Colleen Stan was kidnapped and held as a sex slave by Cameron and Janice Hooker in Red Bluff, California, for over seven years between 1977 and 1984.

On Thursday May 19, 1977, 27-year-old Colleen Stan (not her real name) left Eugene, Oregon to visit a friend in the Northern California town of Westwood, almost 400 miles away She had no car or money for a bus, but she was used to getting around with her thumb, so she hitchhiked.

"I just decided," Colleen later said in an A&E documentary, "that I was going to go down and wish her a happy birthday."

Despite the fact that four years earlier, Edmund Kemper had stalked and killed female hitchhikers in San Jose, California most young women did not give the potential dangers of the practice much thought. Hitchhiking in the '70s was a way of life, part of a statement of freedom that the youth subculture had adopted in recent years. Eschewing material things or simply having no money, they got around based on their belief in the kindness of strangers.

So Colleen figured she'd find a ride fairly easily down Interstate 5 into the next state. She never anticipated just what would happen when she did get a ride and was unable to get out. Her benefactors had no plans to kill her. They had something else in mind.

Some background information on Cameron Hooker:

On May 19, 1977 Hooker kidnapped Colleen Stan a.k.a. "Carol Smith." Cameron's wife, Janice Hooker, assisted in the kidnapping. Stan was held in captivity for the next seven years.

During her imprisonment, Colleen was tortured, sexually assaulted, and led to believe that she was being watched by a large organization called "The Company". Hooker had her sign a "slavery contract" supposedly from "The Company". He assigned her a new slave name, "K", causing comparisons to the Story of O. She was also led to believe that members of her family would be harmed if she attempted to escape. She may have experienced Stockholm syndrome.

Hooker kept Stan locked in wooden boxes that he had made. One of the boxes was located under the bed that he shared with his wife. Dr. Chris Hatcher, forensic psychologist and criminal profiler, testified for the prosecution.

Hooker was sentenced to consecutive terms for the sexual assaults, which totaled 60 years. He also received 1 to 25 years for the kidnapping, plus a 5 to 10 year sentence for using a knife in the process.

The case was documented in a book by the prosecutor and was the inspiration for an episode of Law and Order: Special Victims Unit. After her escape, Stan went to school for an accounting degree, married and had a daughter.

i refuse to believe that..... and i go even further than that.... I don't lock any of my doors.. never have. my car my garage my front door..... no door. i hate keys... sometimes i leave my key in the igni in my car.... I would rather have everything stolen from me one day..... than spend an entire lifetime thinking about it....

I don't obsess about locking shit like the car as I don't leave any valuables in it, unless you count a handful of cd's.

its just my own stupidity.... i do admit... i put camaras up..lol..but not cuz i wanted to....
