Carmine “Lilo” Galante - Mobster Gunned Down 1979
Carmine "Lilo" Galante, a notorious figure in the American Mafia, was assassinated on July 12, 1979, in Brooklyn, New York. Galante's death occurred at Joe and Mary's Italian-American Restaurant in the Bushwick neighborhood of Brooklyn. He was having lunch in the restaurant's garden when several gunmen entered and opened fire. Galante, along with two other men, was killed in the attack. The hit was believed to be orchestrated by rival factions within the Mafia, possibly due to Galante's ambition to dominate the narcotics trade and his failure to share profits with other Mafia families.  · |
