Re: Budd Dwyer: Full Video and Story
Since Dwyer died in office, his widow was able to collect full survivor benefits, totaling over $1.28 million. Dwyer's widow Joanne never remarried and died on July 12, 2009, at the age of 70. She was buried next to her husband in Blooming Valley Cemetery. |

Re: Budd Dwyer: Full Video and Story
Erruhh that conspiracy theory doesn't pertain to Dwyer but rather uses the footage of his suicide for illustrative purposes...

Re: Budd Dwyer: Full Video and Story
Well yeah but it had the story (behind the suicide)and the full video so it had a bit of a twist to it ! Ironically his co-defendant (also found guilty of the same charges), Bob Asher, was sentenced to only one year in jail. He later returned to politics and served as a Republican national committeeman for Pennsylvania. So if you ask me R Bud overreacted, he was due to be sentenced the very next day...& would have been out in a year or two like his political ally and friend Asher ! I also believe he was an innocent man too, it's a shame how his life ended. |

Re: Budd Dwyer: Full Video and Story
That's really the worst part about Dwyer's fate. He was in politics for years before he was elected state Treasurer, and he was re-elected even after the charges were brought against him. He even established a hotline where citizens could report government waste of funds, which I believe is still there to this day. The people liked him. I don't think it was about whether or not he would have done his full term. I doubt he was ignorant of how the criminal justice system works when it comes to such things. He just didn't want his family to fall on hard times, and he probably felt as if he would never again have a chance to do what it is he loved doing. But he was also facing a lot of time, so even with parole it was reasonable to think that he would have served at least 5-10 years. |

Re: Budd Dwyer: Full Video and Story
Well yeah I see your point ..however lets say he did the 10 or 11 years then was released in 1998 he would be only 58 years old.. and if he was innocent just think he could tell the world over & over again (of his innocence) on talk shows write a couple books about his experience etc .. and be highly thought of too ! but the answer is not too blow your brains out on live TV !! In such a horrific fashion for all to see |
