a video said there's usually two reasons one would leave normal things... 1. if the think they are only going out to chat with someone briefly or going around the corner or 2. if they know they are not coming back.

1 of the rumors are that these could be MIT students. Ironically they just said on the news that there are reports of gunshots at MIT building 32 - could be a rumor, but it was just on the news as a breaking story. |

FWIW, CNN is reporting the devices were remote controlled, not timers as initially reported... but it IS CNN, so take that as you will. So it could make sense of why he stuck around just close enough to watch but so close he'd need to run fairly soon after perhaps to mix into the crowd.

reddit is reporting an announcement of an MIT officer down about 20 minutes ago. still listening in on the scanner (my local time is 11:08pm Eastern Time US) keep in mind, many many different things going on on that scanner. just heard at 11:10pm "he's shot twice, left hand and belly". no clue who this is referring to. |
