John Lennon was a huge douche bag. He beat women, was a sloppy drunk fighting with everyone and talked shit all the time. Yoko didn't do shit trying to break them up. Lennon forced her to come to the studio and would beat her when she wouldn't come because he was a possessive control freak who didn't want her speaking to anyone else. Since he was cheating on his wife with Ono and knocked her up (ended in miscarriage, the rumor part of it goes he beat Yoko in a druggie rage and causing the miscarriage - just coincided with a horrible beating she took and the day she miscarried), he was afraid to lose her how he got her even though he was fucking anything that walked with both with his wife and later with Ono.

While he was telling Playboy he was a "househusband" and baking bread, he'd stopped working so he could control every aspect of Ono's life, especially after they had the kid - to which he abused too and his own damn diaries from that time talk about how he would smack the kid around and then give him back to the servants so he and Ono could sit around doing heroin.

Lennon's own freaking lawyer talks about the orchestration of making him some kind of peace-loving hippie who doted on his family and somehow the Beatles broke up because of his "love" for Ono.

Most of this is admitted either through Lennon's own writing or through Ono's own admissions (including her assertion Lennon was a "closet ***" who liked her because she looked like a boy in drag. He also was a right-winger (at least later in life) - a complete opposite of his commie style writing/public persona and the rumor comes in that he actually loathed Imagine in his last years.

While no one deserves murder in the purest form - he certainly doesn't deserve the revisionist angelic PR bullshit status either.

An author who 'specialised' in character assassination wrote two books. One about Lennon and the other about Elvis. They contained the above rumours and they were dismissed long ago.

I cried when this happened and his killer should have been executed by now. What a waste of talent he could have brought us much more great music and paintings. He was a true artist in many sense of the words.
