Mateen, who was 29 years old, carried out the attack in the early hours of June 12, 2016, at Pulse, a popular LGBTQ nightclub. Armed with a semi-automatic rifle and a handgun, he opened fire on club patrons, leading to a hostage situation that lasted for several hours.

The attack ended when the Orlando Police Department's SWAT team breached the building and engaged Mateen in a shootout. Mateen was killed in the exchange of gunfire. The incident was investigated as an act of domestic terrorism, and it was revealed that Mateen had pledged allegiance to the Islamic State (ISIS) during the attack.

what is interesting is that eye witnesses reported that they saw him there a lot, hitting on guys and trying to go on dates. also reported that he was pissed at a lot of the guys there that he had relations with, and felt used by them and one had HIV that he slept with and didn't tell him. his wife also knew he was there and would go on dates. but we didn't hear that. or that there was another suspect....
