If anyone is still interested.. Yuri Chikatillo is not a known serial killer at least but he does defend his psycho father. Attaching a link of a Russian documentary and article. Says his dad was not a "Serial Killer" but a Ukranian Nationalist.

Handsome Devil does resemble his father.

The son did face charges which I am guessing where the rumors of him being a serial killer came from. Also why he is no longer using his wifes surname which he had been doing to hide who he is. Apparently it was not as exciting as all that, According to this article it was a fight with a friend that was particularly nasty. Both ended up stabbed.

His lawyer says he was basically charged the way he was due to who his dad was.

Protecting Yuri Miroshnichenko (son of Rostov maniac Chikatilo Andrei), who was arrested for attempted murder in the Kharkiv region of Ukraine, intends to apply to the European Court of Human Rights. It is reported Kharkiv edition SQ with reference to a lawyer Vladimir Suntsova.
Protection works to ensure that the charge was changed to Yuri Miroshnichenko. According Suntsova, which represents the interests of the prisoner, his client's actions can be evaluated as bodily injury and excessive self-defense (and not attempted murder). In this case, Miroshnichenko could shake a few years in prison. In case, if the current wording of the charges will remain in force, he, as noted, faces up to 15 years imprisonment.

The son of Andrei Chikatilo was arrested in April 2009. Then, between him and his friend Ivan Udovenko a fight. As a result, the two were reportedly stabbed. Chikatilo's son previously lived in the village of truth of the Kharkiv region. ~ The main reason Andrei Chikatilo was let go from custody in 1984, was because his blood type did not match the semen type found on a victim's body. Later on, in the end, after his execution, it was suggested that he may have had a rare genetic defect in which the blood type of an individual does not match the blood type of their semen. Which was not accepted.
~ The other reason was that he was a Communist found to be in good standing.
~ I wonder if his son has the same genetic defect, which would cause sexual impotence.

~ There are two movies which were made, of which both are polar in their depiction of Chikatilo. One as a victim of his own debilitating circumstances, the other as a cold calculated career criminal with hypnotic abilities.
