Joaquin was quite hot in "8mm"! Yeah, embalming is the luck of the draw really, some folk look ok, some look shocking. There's not much you can do about it.

I don't think he was embalmed. BTW, embalming is not required by law. It is done solely for the family and to be "pretty" for the viewers, not for public safety and such. Wasn't his family commune-hippie types? |

He looks awful because they had to do an autopsy. That wreaks havoc with the body, and you can only do so much. He might also have looked awful BEFORE he died.
