Re: Actor Paul Walker Killed in Car Crash *update*
I didn't see hckr_wolf already posted this. Sorry, everyone! Issues in Car Crash 12/18/2013 The Associated Press LOS ANGELES – Investigators have found no evidence that the Porsche carrying actor Paul Walker had mechanical problems before it crashed, killing the Fast & Furious star. The investigation also ruled out debris or other roadway conditions as causing the car in which Walker was a passenger to careen into a light pole and tree. "We're looking at speed, and speed alone," a law enforcement official with knowledge of the investigation told the Associated Press. The official was not authorized to speak publicly about the investigation and spoke on condition of anonymity. The November 30 crash also killed the driver of the 2005 Porsche Carrera GT, Walker's friend and financial adviser Roger Rodas. Investigators with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department have calculated a speed range at which they think the car was traveling but won't firm up that number until Porsche engineers come to California next month to extract information from onboard data collectors. The official would not disclose that range. Although the car exploded in flames after the crash, the data recorders survived and may produce information to pinpoint the speed. Rodas, 38, and Walker, 40, co-owned an auto racing team. Rodas also was a professional driver who competed in 10 Pirelli World Challenge GTS races this year. The official told AP that the Porsche appeared to have negotiated a curve in the road just fine before crashing in an industrial park about 30 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles. "They were well out of the curve when they lost control," the official said. |

Re: Actor Paul Walker Killed in Car Crash *update*
January 3, 2014 Reuters The coroner found that neither Paul Walker nor his friend involved in a high-speed fiery car crash were under the influence. LOS ANGELES — No drugs or alcohol were found in the bodies of, "Fast & Furious," actor, Paul Walker, and his friend, Roger Rodas, after the fiery car crash that killed them in November, a coroner's report released on Friday said. Both Walker, 40, and Rodas, 38, tested negative for alcohol, and drugs including cocaine, opiates and marijuana were not detected, said the report from the Los Angeles County Coroners' Office. The report included an early account of the accident from the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department, dated December 1 - the day after the crash, saying the Porsche Carrera GT driven by Rodas was traveling at, "an unsafe speed, approximately 100+ mph." But a sheriff's spokeswoman said the investigation into the accident has not been completed and there was no definitive finding on the car's speed. Both deaths were ruled accidents. Walker died from, "combined effects of traumatic and thermal injuries," and Rodas from, "multiple traumatic injuries," the report said. Walker was in the process of filming, "Fast & Furious 7," at the time and production was halted a few days later. Universal Pictures said last month that the release of the seventh installment in the highly lucrative franchise would be pushed back by nine months to April, 2015. Walker will appear in the film. |
