Diego Dedoné is still alive, he was doing relatively well after the accident. And he was a forward (i don't know if he's still playing).
According to the medical report, he suffered multiple fractures on the left side of the face in different regions, such as the cheek, lower jaw, cheek, among others, but only two of the injuries required surgery. He also suffered a brain contusion and a mild traumatic brain injury that left him in confusion for some time.
"Luckily, the muscles of his neck were stiff, thus avoiding a possible injury to his cervical spine," said the club's doctor, Yassuo Yoshida.
