Well said, sir. The limbs went into instant spasm. I'm not a doctor, but a cervical-vertebrae level severance of the spinal cord was likely. Scary, but I could only watch it twice, even with my DR/BG/etc-built tolerance. :S

That move where he rolls out of the flip is called a Thomas Salto. It's a dangerous move that only male gymnasts are allowed to do now. This was because gymnast Elena Mukina from the USSR was made to do this move by her coaches when she was still recovering from a broken leg and she lost use of all her limbs. She died in relative poverty due to complications from her condition a few years later.
