Good riddance, stayed too long, cocky and definitely overrated.

I disliked Anderson for a long time for his clowning antics inside the cage but to say he was overrated is just being a hater. The guy will go down as a legend of the sport.

Re: DR's Official MMA Thread

Guess that makes me a hater then?, seeing cocky shit-talkers and show-boaters get their just-desserts has alway been my thing.

He'd been living off his ego for a while, 'Like Water' (likening himself to Bruce Lee) and trying to mimic Muhummad Ali's ring showboating, average in my view and the game moves on.

Hadn't he already had 5 losses?, why was he rated so high PFP? .

Living on hype and fumes.

Re: DR's Official MMA Thread

I agree with downunder to a degree, I do think he was overhyped and definitely too cocky. Having said that he had a very very impressive run and had a stupid amount of skill. I don't think he will go down as a GOAT but I can understand where people are coming from when they say he will

Also ronda. Hero to most hated zero in 12 months! Is that a new record?

Re: DR's Official MMA Thread

Sucks to see the proud old lion go down like that.

I think everyone in that arena would've rather seen him lose the
fight by the inevitable TKO than something like that, shit happens.

I was VERY impressed by Tate taking Rousey all the way into rd. 3
before the armbar - so much for her streak of 1st round victories.

Leben and Barnett both looked lethargic and defeated at the beginning of their fights... tough weight cuts maybe?

After Lebens performance i'm pretty sure he's going to retire from the UFC.

Now, that Travis Browne kid... looking better every fight.

I don't think he can take Cain just yet, but would LOVE to see him fight JDS.

Whadday'all think???

Re: DR's Official MMA Thread

Oh sweet irony... http://metronews.ca/sports/276581/uf...o-break-bones/

“Well, first of all Chael’s a criminal. He’s been convicted of crimes,” an animated Silva said via manager/interpreter Ed Soares. “He doesn’t deserve to be inside the Octagon and when the time comes and the time is right, I’m going to break his face and break every one of the teeth in his mouth.”

“What I’m going to do inside the Octagon is something that’s going to change the image of the sport,” Silva added. “I’m going to beat his ass like he’s never been beaten before. I’m going to make sure that every one of his teeth are broken, his arms are broke, his legs are broke. He’s not going to be able to walk out of the Octagon by himself, I’m going to guarantee that.”

Sonnen will need the services of a plastic surgeon after the fight, Silva threw in for good measure.

Interesting matchup, JDS boxing will be too much for young Brown imo.

I'm not an Anderson Silva hater, I just don't want to see stale fighters hanging in too long, washed-ups getting gift decisions (cough GSP).

Muhammad Ali did it in the late 70's, it's ok to a point.
