Re: DR's Official MMA Thread

In my view the UFC game is looking dam fine, re-matches, rubber matches, undefeated fighters..

PPV-ing 28th Dec, it's a date.

Re: DR's Official MMA Thread

You honestly think Askren would make the top 10 of the UFC..??
I honestly do. Now that's not to say I haven't been affected by the hype surrounding him but with out a doubt he would be top 10 within two or three fights (if that)

Rashad Cormier will be a great fight, looking forward to that one

I'd rate Jon Bones Jones ahead in current PFP, GSP has been beaten twice.

GSP avenged those 2 losses in brutal fashion. He holds most of the major ufc records. He is the Micheal Jordan, Wayne Gretzky, Muhammad Ali of his sport. Not taking anything away from JJ but that guy is winning with a huge size advantage. Gus who is the same size made him look "ordinary".

the real mma rankings.

Re: DR's Official MMA Thread

I'm sorry, but Ben Askren was a big fish in a tiny pool. I'll believe he's a threat to the top ten when he starts getting some wins in OneFC.

Great, Matt Brown is out of his fight with Condit. That card was looking great at the start, and now it's in tatters.
I wouldn't mind watching a rematch with Nick Diaz.

Talk about dominance, I don't think this Weidman has lost a round in his career.

Re: DR's Official MMA Thread

The rumors about UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre retiring or taking a break floated around for weeks following the French Canadian's tough, tough, tough win over Johny Hendricks last month.

Now, during a conference call with both St-Pierre and UFC president Dana White, it was officially announced that GSP was taking a break from mixed martial arts for an indefinite period of time, and that he was vacating his title.

"15 of my fights were for a world title," sid St-Pierre. "It is a lot of pressure. I decided I need to take time off. I know the UFC is a business they can't wait for my little self. One day when I feel like it I might come back, but right now I need a break. So I vacate my belt."

At every fight you add weight, you add weight you add weight, and at some point for my equilibrium, I have to take a break. I can't go through a camp right now... So I vacated my title."

"Instead of having a red tape on my wrist, I'll have a blue tape - I'll be the challenger."

"I never felt better physically, It is emotionally I need this."

"I want to live a little bit of a normal life. (I will be part of Tristar) but I wont have the pressure of competing."

"I will keep training as I am a martial artists... I think one day I will be back."

UFC president Dana White agreed.

"I agree with Georges 100%," said White. "He sat down with us and said 'I have a lot of person problems right now. I cant imagine doing another camp.' This is fighting man. You have to be 100% emotionally and physically."

Re: DR's Official MMA Thread

Glad he had the balls to make the decision HE wanted to make.

I think he'll be back by 2015.

Re: DR's Official MMA Thread

As much as I don't like him, GSP is copping too much bullshit over this. It was something he'd decided long BEFORE the fight, not after. Good on him.

Anyways, looks like we got Lawler vs Hendricks for the title in March. War Lawler.
