Horror ski crash sees Olivier Jenot suffer brutal injuries at 2017 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships

The Monegasque is in a stable condition after sustaining a punctured lung and internal bleeding in the Super-G race

Monaco's Olivier Jenot was seriously injured in a horrendous crash during the men's Super-G race at the 2017 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships.

The former gold medallist lost balance before turning midair and landing heavily on his back.

The skier received immediate medical attention for internal bleeding and a lung puncture.

The 28-year-old was lifted via a helicopter to the hospital in Chur where he was later confirmed as being in a stable condition.

Jenot carried the Monegasque flag during the opening ceremony of the 2014 Winter Olympics and is the latest athlete to suffer a serious injury in the championships.

Slovakian Andreas Zampa suffered a bruised heel and pelvis and American Thomas Biesemeyer's shoulder was dislocated along with a hip strain.

While Croatian Max Ullrich was badly bruised to the pelvic and shoulder area.
