The Nuclear Attack That Never Happened
Very interesting; apparently psychopaths would have been recruited to help keep law and order, according to a recently declassified document.  A civil servant at the time, posited the following pearls of wisdom: "It is... generally accepted that around 1% of the population are psychopaths," she wrote. "These are the people who could be expected to show no psychological effects in the communities which have suffered the severest losses." I just checked out the link. It wouldn't be C&P'able as has images and is a long article. I'd guess it's safe to click the link as it is a BBC link and they're as safe as unicorn farts. ;)

Didn't read the article, but seems like the same thread of thought during the 90's about adults with ADD/ADHD being indespensible in a crisis situation. The logic went that these people are used to living and navigating normal life in mental chaos and make order out of disorganization. In a crisis situation that would reduce a normal sentient person to silly putty, the folks with ADD could remain composed and be depended on for continutity and organization. Besides, haven't we been doing this with psychopaths and sociopaths anyways? Ever seen a politician or law enforcement officer that wasn't one? |
