This audio is from the recovery of Mercury-Redstone 4, Liberty Bell 7, on July 21, 1961. It covers the fourth launch and second crewed spaceflight of Project Mercury.

On the recording, the recovery team in the North Atlantic Ocean discusses a dye pack in the water that did not activate.

Any Huntclub this is 9 c????rd. Unintelligable Huntclub say again. This is Card File 9. There is an object on the line in the water about one six zero degrees. The NASA people suspect it is the die marker that did not dissipate. I would say it is about 3/4 of a mile out from the capsule. After the lift off, do you think to check on it? Over.
