FBI File on the Speedway Burger Chef Murders

This file concerns the 1978 abduction and murder investigation involving four Burger Chef employees in Speedway, Indiana: Jayne Friedt, Mark Flemmonds, Daniel Davis, and Ruth Shelton. Indianapolis FBI records show the bureau was notified after the employees disappeared during an apparent restaurant robbery and assisted local police as a possible federal kidnapping matter. A November 18, 1978 teletype describes the open restaurant, emptied cash drawers, open safe, abandoned purses, and recovery of Friedt's vehicle. The release also includes FBI Laboratory evidence submissions and property inventories for items such as the safe door, tape container, deposit bags, address book, paper bags, shoes, and hairbrushes, with requests for latent-print, shoe-impression, and hair examinations.
