FBI File on Santo Trafficante Jr. Anti-Racketeering Case

This FBI anti-racketeering file concerns Santo Trafficante Jr., the Tampa organized-crime figure investigated under the Bureau's 'top hoodlum coverage' program. The released records include 1953 and 1954 Miami memoranda compiling background information, alleged bolita and gambling activity, associations, hangouts, a 1953 shooting, and reporting on bribery charges involving Santo and Henry Trafficante. Later Tampa, Miami, and Bureau records from 1968 track Trafficante's travel among Florida, New York, Mexico, and possible South America, contacts with alleged La Cosa Nostra figures, and an effort to serve a Florida Senate crime-investigation subpoena. The 1968 reports also identify attorney Frank Ragano as a close contact and repeatedly characterize Trafficante as armed and dangerous because of alleged criminal associations.
