FBI File on Paul Castellano and His 1985 Murder
This file concerns Gambino crime family figure Paul Castellano, initially examined by the New York FBI office in an anti-racketeering matter. Records from 1962 and 1963 include surveillance reports, telephone-subscriber information, business inquiries, and a June 1963 interview in which Castellano denied membership or a leadership role in organized crime. The interview discusses his rendering and meat-related businesses, his attendance at the 1957 Apalachin meeting, and his relationship to Carlo Gambino. Later 1985 and 1986 FBI teletypes concern the murders of Castellano and Thomas Bilotti and efforts by the Newark, New York, Miami, and other offices to identify, locate, and obtain background information and photographs on possible associates or suspects.
