FBI File on the Murder of Dian Fossey
This FBI file concerns the murder of primatologist Dian Fossey in northern Rwanda and the Bureau's limited liaison role through Interpol. A January 1986 Louisville field office communication forwards an Oldham County, Kentucky, police letter reporting that Fossey had bought a .380-caliber Astra handgun in 1984 and asks FBI Headquarters to send the information to Rwandan authorities. A December 15, 2003 FBI Laboratory letter states that requested laboratory documents or evidence in the Dr. Dian Fossey investigation were not maintained by the Laboratory and directs the requester to submit a Freedom of Information request to FBI Headquarters.
