This FBI file concerns Lloyd William Barker, also known as 'Red,' a son of Kate 'Ma' Barker and the last surviving Barker brother. The Bureau opened follow-up inquiries after Barker was shot and killed by his wife, Jennie Barker, at their Westminster, Colorado home on March 18, 1949. The released records include newspaper clippings about the Barker family, an April 1949 Bureau request for discreet local inquiry, and a Denver memorandum reporting that Jennie Barker was found criminally insane and committed to the Colorado State Hospital. A 1957 memorandum forwards three photographs showing Barker's body for inclusion in the Bureau's Barker family file.
