FBI File on John 'Sonny' Franzese

This file concerns FBI monitoring of John 'Sonny' Franzese, a Brooklyn organized-crime figure whom sources described in 1958 as a rising hoodlum power. The New York office recommended opening a case to determine whether Franzese had top-hoodlum stature. Released material includes confidential-informant reporting from 1952 and 1953 on his associates, meeting places, telephone contacts, businesses, and family connections, as well as property-record checks involving Franzese and relatives. It also contains evidence inventories from 1964 and 1966 listing identification photographs, negatives, a driver's license photocopy, and vehicle-registration records.
