FBI File on Jake Guzik

This file concerns Jake Guzik, a Chicago underworld figure associated in FBI records with Al Capone's organization. The released material includes a 1930 Bureau of Investigation inquiry connected to property and an income-tax case, in which Guzik was sentenced to five years and a day and fined $17,500. It also contains 1944 Chicago and Washington communications about reports that Guzik had been kidnapped after a police pickup, followed by word from his attorney that Guzik was safe and hiding to avoid questioning. FBI officials instructed the Chicago and Miami offices not to undertake an investigation, while allowing them to accept voluntary information. A 1952 memorandum summarizes his aliases, reported Russian birth, Chicago address, criminal-history references, and alleged role as a Capone organization business manager.
