FBI File on Impersonation of King Bhumibol Adulyadej
This FBI Bangkok office file concerns an unidentified person impersonating Thailand's King Bhumibol Adulyadej on the internet. A June 21, 2000 communication directs FBI Counterterrorism in Washington to identify and locate the person, and refers to domain information for Presidency.com and telia.com plus routing information for IP addresses. The records state that impersonating the King is a felony in Thailand, but that no arrest was intended at the then-current level of disrespectful activity. An August 15 closing communication says the Justice Department advised that a United States court order was not warranted because the facts did not show a sufficiently serious foreign-law violation, and notes that Thai authorities would handle any arrest outside Thailand through foreign-affairs and police counterparts. FBI file number: 163A-BK-395 | Documents span: 2000 | Released in 1 part Names in this file: Bhumibol Adulyadej Subjects: internet impersonation, Thailand, Counterterrorism Division, domain records, IP addresses, international law enforcement
