FBI File on Daniel J. Greene and ILA Local 1317

This FBI file concerns Daniel J. Greene, president of International Longshoremen's Association Local 1317 in Cleveland, Ohio. In September 1964, the Cleveland office forwarded Plain Dealer editorials and articles alleging that waterfront longshoremen worked unloading grain boats without receiving their pay. The records describe a meeting with the U.S. Attorney, FBI, Labor Department offices, and the National Labor Relations Board to consider possible labor, racketeering, and other federal issues. The U.S. Attorney said the published information did not then establish a federal violation, but planned to seek Local 1317 records through a federal grand jury antitrust investigation for agency review.
