The readable material in this release centers on the 1935 federal proceedings against him in Malone, New York, and on Bureau assistance to prosecutors after concerns were raised about jurors, defense activity, and possible obstruction of justice. The file includes correspondence to J. Edgar Hoover, New York field office memoranda, a telegram directing an agent to proceed to Malone, reports of investigative activity, and Technical Laboratory paperwork on an anonymous typewritten letter. Much of the scan is badly degraded, but the usable pages show the Bureau receiving requests from Justice Department and New York officials, investigating allegations connected to the trial, and examining a letter for typewriter and paper identification.
