FBI Correspondence on Project Blue Book and UFO Inquiries
This file concerns public inquiries to the FBI about the Air Force's former Project Blue Book UFO investigation. A 1977 Air Force letter and fact sheet state that Project Blue Book ended on December 17, 1969, that its records were transferred to the National Archives, and that the Air Force found no national-security threat, evidence of advanced technology, or extraterrestrial vehicles. The file also contains 1989 letters from a civilian group calling itself the 'New Project Blue Book' to FBI Director William S. Sessions, alleging that important UFO information was withheld and asking for further inquiry. The FBI's reply says UFO investigations were never an FBI responsibility and directs the writer to the National Archives and NASA; an internal note records that the response used language previously provided for UFO inquiries.
