Re: Euro 2012 8th June - 1st July

I hope italy wins. it'd be better for football, better for the tournament and better for international football in general
Yep, that's true.

Re: Euro 2012 8th June - 1st July

The only ties I have to Spain: my bf's grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins etc live there, though his dad moved to the US as a young man. I didn't pay much attention to European football until I met him. Now, it's Spain all the way!

I'd love to visit. There are some awesome historical sites I want to see! And some interesting contemporary architecture.

Re: Euro 2012 8th June - 1st July

iut was cool to see spain to win the first time back in 2008, just because they've been the failures/under achievers of football for the last 80 years, but now holland have taken over that title.

i do wish hungary won the world cup in the 50s.... here's he battle of berne, considered to be one of the most violent footie games of all time, where apparently brazil n hungary players continued fighting in the changing rooms after the game. this was the quarter final, they beat existing champions uruguay in the semis (4-2) and then hungary lost to germany in the finals. these statistics alone which were all records set at this tournament show why hungary should have won world cup 1954

Records
The following all-time records were set at this tournament:
highest average goals per game, all matches (5.38)
most goals scored (Hungary, 27)
highest average goals scored per game (Hungary, 5.4)
highest aggregate goal difference (Hungary, +17)
highest average goal difference per game (Hungary, +3.4)
most goals scored, champions (West Germany, 25)
most goals scored per game, champions (West Germany, 4.25)
most goals conceded, champions (West Germany, 14)
most goals conceded per game, champions (West Germany, 2.33)
most goals in a single game (Austria 7 Switzerland 5)
greatest margin of victory in a single game (Hungary 9 South Korea 0) (subsequently equalled by Yugoslavia winning 9–0 against Zaire in 1974 and again Hungary winning 10–1 against El Salvador in 1982).

and I wish holland beat argentina in 1978

Irish Euro fans to get award for civility

“The (UEFA) executive committee has decided to give a special award to the Irish football fans,” UEFA secretary general Giani Infantino told a press conference here on Saturday.

“Everyone was very impressed by the fans of the national team of the Republic of Ireland who came to Poland. The team’s results were mitigated by the fans. (UEFA) president (Michel) Platini will go to Ireland to give the award.”

Pound for pound the best fans at these Euro's.
