Apollo 12 Transcript Excerpt, Moon, 1969
This PDF is an excerpt from the Apollo 12 Technical Air-to-Ground Voice Transcription from November 1969. It highlights two periods when the flight crew reported unidentified phenomenon during the mission to the Moon. On Day 05, Astronaut Alan L. Bean, the lunar module pilot, described particles and flashes of light seen through the onboard Alignment Optical Telescope, saying they were "sailing off in space" and characterizing them as "escaping the Moon." On Day 06, Mission Commander Charles "Pete" Conrad described floating debris outside the lunar module, lit by the module's tracking light. At 06:00:21:51, Conrad assessed that the tracking light had burnt out because he could no longer see the debris. Declassified by the Department of War under the PURSUE UAP records release (tranche of 5/8/26). Agency: NASA Incident: 1969, Moon Document ID: NASA-UAP-D001
