1950 and 1952 Film Analysis, Montana and Utah

This PDF contains a memorandum on the U.S. Naval Photographic Interpretation Center's assessment of two films allegedly showing unidentified airborne objects. The films were captured in Montana in 1950 and Utah in 1952.

The memorandum records the Center's analytic process, the assumptions limiting its confidence, tentative conclusions, and recommendations for future research. The Center generally assessed that the filmed objects showed characteristics inconsistent with natural phenomena or commonly known aerospace technologies, and recommended a better funded and staffed investigation to corroborate its presumptive findings. Accompanying charts compare the films' luminosity with the apparent angular size of the phenomena, using mathematical modeling and photogrammetric analysis techniques from the period.

Declassified by the Department of War under the PURSUE UAP records release (tranche of 8/7/26).
