haha, I think half of those pics are not even dead people. Like the first, its just someone with thier eyes closed. The kid is standing up. YOu cant get dead people to stand up. Com eon.

They used stands.. the stands, in fact, can often be seen in many of the photos. Coincidentally, though, the living sometimes also used stands as with the technology of the era, exposures were very long and people had to remain still for quite a long time. The most unnerving post mortem images imo are the ones where they paint eyes on the victim's lids to make them look alive. Creepy shit. |

There used to be only a few points in life/death when you had photos taken because they were so very expensive - other than death, marriage was mostly it. My grandfather's family practiced this, and even last year when my 19 year old brother passed away, he insisted on such photos being taken for him. Most people frown on it, but I understood it. People weren't so afraid of death years ago, it was just part of the life cycle and had to be confronted.
