Victorian Mourning Photos
Hi, this is my first post, so I hope I am doing this right. These are mourning photos from the victorian period, where the dead are posed as if they are still alive. Wires hold them up, propped up against a stand and sometimes eyes are painted on. Not gruesome at all but I find it terribly heartbreaking. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Re: Victorian Mourning Photos
ah, no. the girl's alive. She's just taking a photo with her dead sister. sorry for not being clear about that. Same with pic #2, only the girl in the middle is dead, posing with living people. o.o Photographs in the 1800s were expensive! Their families probably wanted one last memory of them. though I agree, it is creepy pretending that they were alive. |
