Victorian Death Photography
During the late 1800s to early 1900s when the life span was short and diseases were rampant, families would pay to have their dead loved ones placed in a pose and photographed. This was a way for families to have something to remember their deceased kin by as most people didn't even own a single picture of their loved ones. As weird as it may seem now, people back then had a very different view of death, however, shortly after WWI the act of photographing the corpse became taboo and was ended.
