The man being executed in that photo is Leonard Siffleet, an Australian commando during WWII. The execution took place in Aitape, New Guinea on October 24, 1943: the officer who executed Siffleet, Yasuno Chikao, detailed a private to photograph him in the act. The executionner was later caught and sentenced to be hanged (this sentence was later commuted to 10 years imprisonment). I just read up on the red terror massacre holy shit I can't believe the torture methods they used on people. They would attach an iron bar to a person with a rat on the other side, then burn the bar causing the rat to bite and claw his way through the person body. People are fucking sick
